Government uses police to intimidate public, arrest peaceful demonstrators and silent groundswell of dissent ahead of upcoming polls
SUARAM strongly condemns the arrests of at least 28 persons, including women, and the use teargas and water cannons by the police during a rally in Kuala Lumpur today (10 November 2007).
The rally calling for free and fair elections in Malaysia was organised by BERSIH, a coalition of over 70 civil society groups and political parties, including SUARAM.
The actions of the police in trying to stop the rally before it even started and in arbitrarily arresting the peaceful participants during the rally is a gross violation of Article 10 of the Federal Constitution, which is the highest law in the country, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).
It must be stressed that even before the rally started, the police had already set up roadblocks to check all buses and cars coming in from outside Kuala Lumpur. Several roads leading to the originally-planned venue, Dataran Merdeka, were sealed at key entry points, while train service to a station near the venue was disrupted. Members of the public were also subjected to checks at several locations and many were refused entry into the vicinity of the venue.
SUARAM deplores the police’s unnecessary actions to intimidate the public from participating in the rally despite the assurances made by the organisers to the police of the measures that will be taken to ensure order and peace during the rally.
In view of the intimidation and warnings by the police to arrest any member of the public who attended the rally, it is clear that the police did not even attempt to perform their duties to ensure public order during the rally. Rather, judging by the stern warnings given and roadblocks set up, we view that the police had aimed to stop the rally by whatever means – including the use of force.
This was proven when the police started spraying over a dozen rounds chemical-laced water and teargas at Masjid Jamek, one of the meeting points for the rally, even before the scheduled rally had started.
Further, as in other previous peaceful demonstrations, there were eyewitness reports of plainclothes police personnel trying to harass and instigate violence in the crowd of peaceful demonstrators.
We view the police’s attempts to stop the rally, the use of water cannons and teargas, and the subsequent arrests of at least 28 peaceful demonstrators as the government’s deliberate attempt to stifle the groundswell of dissent in view of the upcoming general elections which is widely believed to be held in the nearest time.
This was confirmed when the Prime Minister himself warned of harsh actions and bluntly said during the President’s speech in the ruling United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) party general assembly on 9 November 2007, that he “do[es] not like to be challenged”, in response to the proposed rally.
The arrests, intimidation and attempts to stop the rally expose the pretense of Malaysia in the international community as a country that upholds democracy and human rights. We call on the international community to condemn Malaysia for paying no regards to the fundamental right to freedom of assembly even though it is a member with the United Nations Human Rights Council.
SUARAM demands that all those arrested by the police be released unconditionally and immediately. We further demand that the police be held accountable for the arbitrary and unnecessary arrests, and the use of teargas and water cannons on peaceful demonstrators.

| Description ANALYSIS BY AZMI SHAROM YOU might not know this, but there have been a lot of unhappy rumblings in Malaysian society regarding our space programme. | |
Life, dear life, oh so short.
Time is passing way too quickly, and dangerously so. Soon enough, if I'm not too careful, I'll wake up and suddenly realize I've let my life pass me by. A year has passed since I last let for Malaysia for the holidays. What have I achieved since then? What have I done? Am I doing my parents justice? for all that they have given to me?
To reflect on my past and to concern myself with these thoughts are probably a waste of time. Or so you think. ;)
Times like these make me feel thankful for all that I have. For friends who care. And those who I care about. People I identify with. People who went through what I did.
Here's to you, my friends:
Amir, thanks for coming to my room and trackin me down.. you'll always be my bro at Asto, just like Aida, is my sis. (though this may make you an incestuous pair) Though we don't meet as often as we should, do know that I got your back. Housemates wat ;)
Aida, thanks for always being there.. hehe as the protective OLDER sister to us all. I wish I could drop by more often.. but meeting you and Amir that night more than made up for the other times I couldnt be there. perhaps when it isnt so awkward next year, I will drop by and say HI more often!
Anannd, get your fat ass up and back to work! Sleep when you're dead. Thanks for the good times and the late night adventures on the streets of Melbourne
Ashish, thanks for taking care of us and making sure none of us die on those escapades of ours!
Dave, thanks for the CRAZY wise ass comments that have made those nights at your place truly memorable.
Alex, (fat) thanks for the slab! woohoo!
Alex, (Russian), thanks for your company and your deadpan humor. Haven't seen you in ages.
Treshan, thanks for your LOVE. :) Gonna miss you thru the hols. Take care of:-
Purnima, stay pretty. Squeeze T'shans cheeks for me.
Tracy, thanks for always keepin the place clean. hehe.
Ashley, thanks for being the butt of my jokes. Speaking of butts, ever noticed what cigarette butts look like..?
Kurt, Chien and Gary, though I just got to know you well, these long nights of Winning 11 and random talks and games have been awesome. In fact, now I probably know you guys better than people I have known for years.
Rafiq! Without you, I would be lost and so fucked up I'd b dead or something. THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!! Its a pity we don't meet that often. haha but there were times when we really spent too much time together. remember chem eng management? :P madness
Hazwan, love your sharp wit and encyclopedic knowledge of current affairs. thanks for help throughout the Masca ncg madness.

Omega Dynamic
Ref: 5250 7007
Background
Omega has used the name Dynamic on numerous watch designs in the past. Many versions have been made, dating from the late 60s through the 70s. Back then they had an oval design in keeping with the times and were almost always on Omega’s best sellers’ list. The name was briefly resurrected in the 80s on a version of the Seamaster. It had an asymmetrical dial design, an offset oval dial creating a thicker (and raised) bezel at the top. This was not a best seller.
Omega finally used the name again between 1997 and 2000 on the watch that is the subject of this review (and it’s stable-mate (Ref: 5240 5000) a chronograph without date).
The use of the name Dynamic by Omega is one of the reasons I believe this military version of the Dynamic was only produced for the last few years of the 90s. Poor sales in the USA (Omega’s primary market) lead to the end of production in 2000. Earlier Dynamics all had a kind of high tech (for the period) and certainly contemporary feel, while this incarnation was inspired by the 1950’s RAF pilot’s watches produced by Omega for the MOD.
At the time the watch was seen to be a very bold and daring move by Omega. In fact they were quite heavily criticised. The benefit for watch enthusiasts is that these astounding watches are are comparatively rare. Omega was a little too ahead of the game in terms of design and, IMO, completely misread the market when they named it Dynamic.
Dial
Similar to the date version, except that there are no luminous dots and batons on the outer ring. The outer ring on the Chronograph version is still for seconds with each 5 seconds division in yellow. The seconds are divided into 5 as the chronograph measures upto a fifth of a second. All chronograph functions are in the same yellow, including the seconds hand. Continuous seconds are at 3. Chronograph minutes at 9. The central seconds hand is for the chronograph function.
The numerals and hands are luminous luminova.

Movement
The movement is Omega caliber 1138. I find this an interesting movement because it is based on the same ETA 2892-A2 movement as the Omega Caliber 1108 in the date only version. For this application Omega have added a Dubois-Depraz chronograph module resulting in a 43 jewel movement. The picture clearly shows the crown along with the offset chronograph pushers.
The movement is protected by an anti magnetic dust cover, and the Chronograph is water resistant to 50 meters.
Case and Finishing
The same quality of brushed finish is evident in both watches. The Chronograph is larger with a 38mm diameter, 44mm lug to lug and 20mm lug with. Clearly it's a little deeper too at 12mm including the stunning raised sapphire crystal.

People, like books and movies are undeniably complex. In my controversial series of blog posts starting soon, I will attempt to review each and every person I know in an attempt to summarize their personalities into a mere paragraph. As far as I know, no one has attempted something as audacious as this. People unlike books, are constantly changing and in line with this, each persons personal review will be constantly updated. What do you think?
Yes, this is one of those things that will get you both hated by many and loved by few. What I would like to know is how people will react to this. So do drop me a comment.
Why is it these epiphanies hit me just before exams?
probably pure and simple procrastination
What is the secret of the explosive and worldwide success of the Harry Potter books? Why do they satisfy children and -- a much harder question -- why do so many adults read them? I think part of the answer to the first question is that they are written from inside a child's-eye view, with a sure instinct for childish psychology. But then how do we answer the second question? Surely one precludes the other.
The easy question first. Freud described what he called the ''family romance,'' in which a young child, dissatisfied with its ordinary home and parents, invents a fairy tale in which it is secretly of noble origin, and may even be marked out as a hero who is destined to save the world. In J. K. Rowling's books, Harry is the orphaned child of wizards who were murdered trying to save his life. He lives, for unconvincingly explained reasons, with his aunt and uncle, the truly dreadful Dursleys, who represent, I believe, his real ''real'' family, and are depicted with a relentless, gleeful, overdone venom. The Dursleys are his true enemy. When he arrives at wizarding school, he moves into a world where everyone, good and evil, recognizes his importance, and tries either to protect or destroy him.
The family romance is a latency-period fantasy, belonging to the drowsy years between 7 and adolescence. In ''Order of the Phoenix,'' Harry, now 15, is meant to be adolescent. He spends a lot of the book becoming excessively angry with his protectors and tormentors alike. He discovers that his late (and ''real'') father was not a perfect magical role model, but someone who went in for fits of nasty playground bullying. He also discovers that his mind is linked to the evil Lord Voldemort, thereby making him responsible in some measure for acts of violence his nemesis commits.
In psychoanalytic terms, having projected his childish rage onto the caricature Dursleys, and retained his innocent goodness, Harry now experiences that rage as capable of spilling outward, imperiling his friends. But does this mean Harry is growing up? Not really. The perspective is still child's-eye. There are no insights that reflect someone on the verge of adulthood. Harry's first date with a female wizard is unbelievably limp, filled with an 8-year-old's conversational maneuvers.
Auden and Tolkien wrote about the skills of inventing ''secondary worlds.'' Ms. Rowling's world is a secondary secondary world, made up of intelligently patchworked derivative motifs from all sorts of children's literature -- from the jolly hockey-sticks school story to Roald Dahl, from ''Star Wars'' to Diana Wynne Jones and Susan Cooper. Toni Morrison pointed out that clichés endure because they represent truths. Derivative narrative clichés work with children because they are comfortingly recognizable and immediately available to the child's own power of fantasizing.
The important thing about this particular secondary world is that it is symbiotic with the real modern world. Magic, in myth and fairy tales, is about contacts with the inhuman -- trees and creatures, unseen forces. Most fairy story writers hate and fear machines. Ms. Rowling's wizards shun them and use magic instead, but their world is a caricature of the real world and has trains, hospitals, newspapers and competitive sport. Much of the real evil in the later books is caused by newspaper gossip columnists who make Harry into a dubious celebrity, which is the modern word for the chosen hero. Most of the rest of the evil (apart from Voldemort) is caused by bureaucratic interference in educational affairs.
Ms. Rowling's magic world has no place for the numinous. It is written for people whose imaginative lives are confined to TV cartoons, and the exaggerated (more exciting, not threatening) mirror-worlds of soaps, reality TV and celebrity gossip. Its values, and everything in it, are, as Gatsby said of his own world when the light had gone out of his dream, ''only personal.'' Nobody is trying to save or destroy anything beyond Harry Potter and his friends and family.
So, yes, the attraction for children can be explained by the powerful working of the fantasy of escape and empowerment, combined with the fact that the stories are comfortable, funny, just frightening enough.
They comfort against childhood fears as Georgette Heyer once comforted us against the truths of the relations between men and women, her detective stories domesticating and blanket-wrapping death. These are good books of their kind. But why would grown-up men and women become obsessed by jokey latency fantasies?
Comfort, I think, is part of the reason. Childhood reading remains potent for most of us. In a recent BBC survey of the top 100 ''best reads,'' more than a quarter were children's books. We like to regress. I know that part of the reason I read Tolkien when I'm ill is that there is an almost total absence of sexuality in his world, which is restful.
But in the case of the great children's writers of the recent past, there was a compensating seriousness. There was -- and is -- a real sense of mystery, powerful forces, dangerous creatures in dark forests. Susan Cooper's teenage wizard discovers his magic powers and discovers simultaneously that he is in a cosmic battle between good and evil forces. Every bush and cloud glitters with secret significance. Alan Garner peoples real landscapes with malign, inhuman elvish beings that hunt humans.
Reading writers like these, we feel we are being put back in touch with earlier parts of our culture, when supernatural and inhuman creatures -- from whom we thought we learned our sense of good and evil -- inhabited a world we did not feel we controlled. If we regress, we regress to a lost sense of significance we mourn for. Ursula K. Le Guin's wizards inhabit an anthropologically coherent world where magic really does act as a force. Ms. Rowling's magic wood has nothing in common with these lost worlds. It is small, and on the school grounds, and dangerous only because she says it is.
In this regard, it is magic for our time. Ms. Rowling, I think, speaks to an adult generation that hasn't known, and doesn't care about, mystery. They are inhabitants of urban jungles, not of the real wild. They don't have the skills to tell ersatz magic from the real thing, for as children they daily invested the ersatz with what imagination they had.
Similarly, some of Ms. Rowling's adult readers are simply reverting to the child they were when they read the Billy Bunter books, or invested Enid Blyton's pasteboard kids with their own childish desires and hopes. A surprising number of people -- including many students of literature -- will tell you they haven't really lived in a book since they were children. Sadly, being taught literature often destroys the life of the books. But in the days before dumbing down and cultural studies no one reviewed Enid Blyton or Georgette Heyer -- as they do not now review the great Terry Pratchett, whose wit is metaphysical, who creates an energetic and lively secondary world, who has a multifarious genius for strong parody as opposed to derivative manipulation of past motifs, who deals with death with startling originality. Who writes amazing sentences.
It is the substitution of celebrity for heroism that has fed this phenomenon. And it is the leveling effect of cultural studies, which are as interested in hype and popularity as they are in literary merit, which they don't really believe exists. It's fine to compare the Brontës with bodice-rippers. It's become respectable to read and discuss what Roland Barthes called ''consumable'' books. There is nothing wrong with this, but it has little to do with the shiver of awe we feel looking through Keats's ''magic casements, opening on the foam/Of perilous seas, in faery lands forlorn.''--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- I agree with you, dear friend.
Final Fantasy 12
An avid fan of the Final Fantasy series from the days of Sephiroth till today, I was impressed by the improvements to the playability as well as the storyline and graphics of the series throughout the years. This version of the game is the best yet. It starts off with a coming of age plotline, with Vaan (a stereotypical poor orphan kid) trying to find meaning to his pitiful life. Crossing paths with Balthier and Fran (seasoned (and physically attractive) air pirates), he begins a life of adventure. But the storyline is not as shallow as it seems. It is a tale of conflict, and tension between the two superpowers of the world of Ivalice, their rivalry played out in multiple arenas; military, industrial, and technological developments. And there's Princess Ashe, a widow, her nation taken from her. Her supporters; insurgents/resistance force depending on whose side you're on, rally behind her to push for her claim to the throne. But fuck. Who am I kidding? The only thing you REALLY need to know about is the race of people called Vieras.
Yes, they look a LOT like Playboy bunnies. And conveniently, there are a race consisting of only women. Which brings up many questions? most importantly, their sexual orientation. Are they lesbian bunnies? Do they mate with humes (humans) ? Are they asexual? Hermaphrodites? So many possibilities. So much potential.. until I saw these:
Clearly a LOT of food for thought. Since women like cute and cuddly things.. is this possibly what lies ahead with human evolution?
How long can you go for without sleep? I decided to find out for myself. My foray in the field of induced sleep deprivation began last Saturday and Sunday (6-7 October), when for the love of Final Fantasy 12, I played all through the weekend without sleep. Why test myself?
Sleep deprivation is frequently used as an instrument of torture or as an interrogation aid. Interrogation victims are kept awake for several days, allowed to fall asleep, then suddenly awakened and questioned. Well, now that I know how it feels like, I'll be able to hold on to my sanity.
Now, according to Wikipedia,Sleep deprivation is often used as a form of recreation, entertainment or to provide a legal "high" without using drugs.Vivid hallucinations, heightened senses and a feeling of incredible creativity (common effects of illicit drugs) may occur after 48 hours (or less) of being in a state of sleeplessness. There is even a history of sleep deprivation being used by different schools of religious mystics as a form of asceticism or to heighten spiritual awareness. In particular the early desert monks of the Christian Church during the fourth and fifth centuries were known to deny themselves sleep. Coffee owes much of its spread in popularity through use by Muslim mystics in all-night devotions.
Life has been a rollercoaster these past few years. I've seen things that few have. Been places some people can only dream of.
Which reminds me of a quote from Blade Runner, "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die."
So I attempt to revive my blog.(to preserve memories and stuff) God only knows whether I can follow this through.

A temporary marriage, or "sigheh," refers to a Shiite Muslim tradition under which a man and a woman sign a contract that allows them to be "married" for any length of time, even a few hours. An exchange of money, as a sort of dowry, is often involved.
"Temporary marriage is God's rule. We must aggressively encourage that," state-run television quoted Interior Minister Mostafa Pourmohammadi as saying.
"We have to find a solution to meet the sexual desire of the youth who have no possibility of marriage," Pourmohammadi was quoted as saying by local newspapers.
I for one feel that this defeats the purpose of marriage in the first place. Imagine a society where marriages are formed and broken as easily as hydrogen bonds in water. Who's gonna take responsibility for the kids? To each his own... One girl is all I need.
Remember y'all ->>>>>>>> One Life, One Love (obscure tamil movie quote)
Our works minister, resident poet, Samy Vellu has penned a poem for the wedding of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Jeanne Abdullah which goes as follows.:-
From this day forward,
You shall not walk alone.
Her heart will be your shelter,
And her arms will be your home.
A mountain needs a valley to be complete;
the valley does not make
the mountain less, but more;
and the valley is more a valley because
it has a mountain towering over it.
But thats not all. Read the following to find out more. Is this plagiarism? Hmmm. you be the judge.
**** added 3/6/07 - it has come to my attention that a fellow blogger and good friend, Tash has written a counter to this article. check it out at : Contemplating marriage? Nice ****
I was talking with a bunch of guys(over a few beers)last night and we got a consensus of at least ten guys that the following is what lies ahead for you in marriage. So think carefully, very VERY carefully before you pop the question.
Year one: Sex, sex, sex. All that you could want. On the floor, in the bathroom, the car, the beach. Every time you’re alone, you end up banging like rabbits. Nothing is off limits. Nowhere you won’t lick, tickle or tease. Each and every time you look at her naked body, you are filled with gratitude that God has given you this piece of ass.
Year two: It slows down, but you try your best to keep it hot just out of fear. You don’t want to become one of those couples. But things have changed, and you know it. No more spontaneous blowjobs. Things are more routine, now, but that’s OK because you’re still getting it regular and you’re happy. Besides, sex isnt the most important part of your relationship, right?
Years 3-5: Along comes the house and the kids. Through it all, you find less and less time or reason to do it. You go from 7 orgasms or more a week down to probably just once a month. You get a bloated beer belly and your love handles begin to turn into big bulges. She starts to gets flabby with baby weight that just won’t go away. The second kid is even worse. She’s now so loose you can’t even come inside her. When you do get to have sex with her, it’s like fucking a bowl of bubur ayam mcD (with the chicken chunks), and she's not enjoying it one bit.
Years 5-7: You decide to get back in shape, a vain attempt to revive your sex life. You get trimmed down at the gym, almost to where you were before marriage. She gives it a half-hearted effort, and doesn't make any progress. She refuses to wear any lingerie you buy her, instead coming to bed in a T-shirt. You now have to beg and schedule sex, which is cold and lustless. By now, you are masturbating regularly. In the shower, at work, anywhere, anytime you are alone. But the effect is minimal and you are constantly horny. For the first time, you will be contemplating divorce. You’ll visit websites about it and maybe glance through them whenever you pass a bookstore. No purchases yet.
Years 7-9: You find yourself staring in amazement at this woman and trying to remember when she was even remotely attractive. Want a preview? Picture your girlfriend, now double the thickness of her arms. Imagine her ass all flattened and her legs thicker and more muscular, much like tree stumps. When you do manage to convince her to make love, she usually quickly gets on her knees for you to enter her from behind and asks you not to fuck up her bowl of chips while she watches TV. She’s as dry as the Sahara and the scent of unwashed ass wafts up as you’re trying to bang her. She is hoping for another baby, but it seems unlikely - your stomach churns at the thought of it. By now you’ve had an affair or two. Maybe the office bicycle or a couple of hookers now and then, but the stress of it is too much for you to handle. You are in disbelief that you actually now masturbate in bed beside her as she snores.
Year 9: It’s over. You occasionally score some outside pussy, but it’s expensive. Your wife now openly scorns any advances you make. If you suggest she get in shape, she labels you a bastard. According to her, real men like women with curves, not sticks. Curves are great, you think, but not rolls and rolls of fat. She stopped shaving ages ago. Now, hair is everywhere, matted and thick. You hope to God she’s banging someone on the side, but you know it’s unlikely anyone would be that depraved. You try to titty fuck her, but she doesn’t like that. There’s now no way to have an orgasm while you’re in physical contact with her.
Year 10: You can’t sleep through the night. Even masturbating doesn’t help. You surf the Web for porn or drink into the wee hours of morning, praying for death’s sweet release to come and take you or her. (preferably her) You’ve talked with a lawyer. Its simple. The divorce would leave you living with your parents while all your income would go towards maintaining your wife and kids. Plus, you love the kids. You can’t bear the thought of splitting up their family. Your future stretches before you like a desert, scorching and sucking the life out of anything that crosses it.
It brings a tear to my eye when I see ppl who understand the true potential of our Malaysian culture - in this case, wayang kulit.
This is definitely the best game I've every played!! The graphics are superb, crystal clear with no lag at all!! Everything was perfectly rendered, with amazing particle effects. The level of detail is incredible. Someone clearly payed a lot of attention to this aspect of the game. You can actually see the individual hairs of the character models move with the wind. Surprisingly, you don't even need a powerful gaming system to play this.
The physics engine of the game is unparalleled. There is no game out there today with as comprehensive a system as this game has.
After my initial shock, I noticed many people walking around and driving vehicles. I knew it. Another MMORPG. No one was carrying weapons - weapons are not allowed in the city levels. But theyre hidden all over the place- cats, sticks, chairs.. etc.
Had so much fun today, I can't wait to get out of the house again tomorrow!

Haha.. they're at it again. ;p First the mat rempit police squads (when they're probably the ones behind the snatch thefts), now this? is it me or is our country being run by idiots? State turns to ‘Mat Skoding’ KUALA TERENGGANU: To avert soaring cases of close proximity and vice here, the Terengganu Government has initiated an ingenious plan where “Mat Skoding” or spies will be recruited to tip-off the state religious department of immoral activities. “Mat Skoding” will be part of the voluntary squad, under the guidance of state religious advisors, acting as vigilantes here. State Islam Hadhari and Welfare Committee chairman Datuk Rosol Wahid said: “Some of these ‘spies’ could be waitresses or even janitors at hotels acting as auxiliary undercover agents for our religious department.” The “Mat Skoding” would be rewarded for their tip-offs, he told The Star here yesterday. Rosol said the trained “spies” would be on the lookout for unmarried couples behaving suspiciously or for vice activities throughout the state. “Accurate details are required for the enforcement officers to act, otherwise they would be pouncing on married couples,” he said. Rosol said the “spies” would keep surveillance at parks and secluded areas to nab dating couples intending to engage in sex. In addition, Rosol said the state government had approved the recruitment of 20 more anti-vice enforcement officers under the State Religious Department this year. On rampant rape cases reported here, Rosol said most of cases reported were actually those involving consensual sex. “Sometimes one party decides to 'fix' the partner over a misunderstanding or for reneging on a promise,” he said. Rosol said parents were also to be blamed, especially for the upsurge in statutory rape cases. “These parents will allow their daughters to roam freely and later when she is pregnant, they rush to the police station to lodge a report,” he said.
I don't know which is more worrying- The idiotic moral policing? or the fact that The Star described the plan as "ingenious". Still recovering from my pilgrimage to South India. (which explains my absence from the blogging world, Dan.) Had a hectic and adventurous weekend with my Uncles (Sree and Indran) and this Spanish restauranteur, called Paco. (Incidentially, Uncle Indran and Paco are down from the UK for a few weeks)
Which means, I'll probably only be able to blog about Rempit Death Squads and the Moral Police (RDS MP) properly in a day or two. Sorry to keep you waiting, that handful of people who frequent my blog. (maybe the word frequent is pushing it) Its 6.37am and I think I should sleep now. Good Night! I mean.. read on..

I don't know what's the problem with everyone. Complaining all the time. What's wrong with Malaysia? If you don't like it then you can GIIIT OUT !
The government is just and fair in all its decisions. What would make you think otherwise?
We care for the impoverished, the poor, the needy and the handicapped.
Take a look at these policies, made to help the 'handicapped' segment of Malaysia's population:
Examples of such policies include:Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bumiputra
Companies listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (Bursa Saham Kuala Lumpur) must find Bumiputras to take up a minimum 30% of equity to satisfy listing requirements. MSC status companies listed on MESDAQ (Malaysia's latest stock exchange, modelled on the NASDAQ and other 'tech' stock exchanges) are not subject to this requirement.
A certain percentage of new housing in any development has to be sold to Bumiputra owners. Housing developers are required to provide a minimum 7% discount to Bumiputra buyers of these lots. There is no bumiputra discount on established housing.
A basket of government guaranteed and run mutual funds are available for purchase by Bumiputra buyers only.
Many government tendered projects require that companies submitting tenders be bumiputra owned. This requirement has led to non-Bumiputras teaming up with Bumiputra companies to obtain projects in a practice known as "Ali Baba" where Ali (the Bumiputra) exists solely to satisfy this requirement and Baba (the non Bumiputra) gives Ali a certain sum in exchange.
Projects were earmarked for Malay contractors to gain expertise in various fields. Often these projects would be sold as the bidders were not interested in the work, only in the gains that could be made from winning such a tender.
Approved Permits (APs) for automobiles preferentially allow Bumiputra to import vehicles. Automotive companies wishing to bring in cars need to have an AP to do so. APs were originally created to allow Bumiputra participation in the automotive industry since they were issued to companies with at least 70% Bumiputra ownership. In 2004, the Edge (a business newspaper) estimated that APs were worth approximately RM 35,000 a piece. They also estimated that Nasimuddin Amin, chairman of the Naza group received 6,387 for 2003, making him the largest recipient of APs. 12,234 APs were issued in 2003. In addition to APs, foreign car marquees are required to pay between 140% to 300% as an import duty.

WORKS Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu has expressed his gay love for Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in a poem, which he penned in Tamil.
The following is the translated version of the poem:
Dear Pak Lah,
A man with serene and radiant personality,
A heart filled with courage and dignity,
He speaks compassionately,
Preserving the nation’s sanctity is his priority.
He is Prime Minister Abdullah,
Known by the name Pak Lah,
A historic election victory became his feat,
And news of his triumph became a hit.
Strong, caring, free, life, there’s no doubt,
That’s what he is all about,
A man with practical judgment and stimulating moves,
Loved and respected by Malaysians in droves.
A man who sees no discrimination,
But fights for all with determination,
Being the fifth Prime Minister,
He is the icon of unity.
Advancement and development are his foundations,
A progressive nation is his destination,
A distinction as a multiracial leader,
Ensures everyone moves up the ladder.
Enforcer of rules and regulations,
He formed the Police Commission,
A man who upholds equality and integrity,
A leader who seeks the truth and conformity.
He will represent you, not resent you,
He will honour you, not dishonour you,
He will stand by you, and walk by you,
He cares for you, and shares with you.
He is unique and cherished,
For the rakyat is his lifeline,
In reaching unity, objectivity and humanity,
Makes him profound and respected,
In the eyes of the nation.
It is with great inspiration,
That I compose this dedication,
And call on a certain incarnation,
Which should prove to be a sensation. in my ass
DATUK SERI S. SAMY VELLU,
Works Minister, Malaysia and MIC president.
The entire poem can be summarized in the following two lines:
HAHAHAA!! that's hilarious.. not the part where u pour out ur soul.. just the lil dialogue.
Hey, can't you see the problem urself?
“very attractive female friends” who are so "self-centered that she’d never actually had a smidgeon of compassion for the nice guy" tend to get along well with "apathetic, Baywatch jock of a boyfriend"...
Firstly, why would nice guys fall for self-centred attractive women? Maybe the same reason girls fall for self-centred hunks.
...while the "nice guy's ordinary physical appearance" dooms him to a life of getting "drunk one night and impregnate a 300-pound, cross-eyed derelict who works at Wendy’s"
The nice guy doesn't like the cross-eyed 300 pound woman. WHY? cause everyone is skin obsessed. Not only the pretty girls and the pretty boys with nice cars. Even the nice guys.
